Funny things

Nichole and I decided we were going to combine out brains the other day. We were sitting across from each other on the couch. We were sitting really close just staring at each other. When out of the blue we BOTH decided at the same time to head butt each other. Man did that hurt. We both got a head ache because of it and for two days afterwards my head was tender to the touch.
Natalie was on the computer Skyping with Nate's sister Haley. I was on the laptop just goofing off at the same time but got onto skype to mess with Natalie. She would type something to Haley and Haley would type something back. I would then type something to Haley but, it looked like it was coming from Natalie. Natalie turned to me and said "Mom I think that Dad is on skype. It keeps saying things that I didn't write" I just snickered and typed some more. Natalie said "Yep dad is for sure on here" Then typed something to Nate on skype. After a minute things started to come together for her "Moooom, It's you. Dad is gone home teaching." I got her good.
Nate has a weird obsession with bringing back the high five. He gets really excited when someone high fives him. Yesterday Natalie said to him "Dad do you want me to teach you how to do a real high five?" Nate said sure. Natalie told him to watch her elbow. As he was watching her elbow she went in to give him a high five. Then smacked him in the face. We all started laughing and Natalie ran for her life.

Random photos of Ella

I took these photos off my phone of Ella. She woke up Saturday morning with some outrageous bedhead. It was a pain in the butt to try to brush through.I kept finding my heels out of my closet and I couldn't figure out why. At first I thought it was Nate secretly trying them on. After all I came home one night (right after I was married) and Nate and his friend Zane we both wearing my dresses. So the thought crossed my mind. But when Ella came downstairs one night for just one more kiss goodnight she was wearing my shoes. Imagine my relief to find out that it wasn't Nate wearing them after all.Ella is a very good helper around the house when she wants to be that is. She decided to help me out by vacuuming the stairs. She did a great job.

Science Fair

Tyler's school had a science fair and hosted a family science fair night. Tyler thought and thought (for about 3 seconds) and decided that he wanted to do his science project on crystals. He made a sugar crystal to show how they grow and documented the growth of the crystals by taking a picture of them everyday. He had to do a poster to show his work. On one side of the poster he put all of the pictures that he had taken and on the other side he put lift the flaps with questions and answers about Crystals. He did a great job and worked very hard on his crystals. The family night was exceptionally fun. They hired out a company to come and entertain the kids. They got to go on this hovercraft. They got to make slime and make a bouncy ball.

Me: You know, people usually break their new years resolution. So maybe I should resolve to get fat a lazy.
Dad: And just think, you made it there on the first day!

Dad: "Deer! Look a deer!….Oh wait no, it's only a dog."

Mom: So how do I send Aunt Tricia the link?

Cub Scouts- Blue and Gold

The Blue and Gold was really fun this year. It was a Knight theme. When we arrived Tyler and Ella got to go and decorate crowns. When they were done we went and found somewhere to sit for dinner. They fed us ham, potato's and veggies. They did not give us any flatware so we had to eat it with our fingers. After the dinner was done each den did a skit. Then they did awards. Tyler got his soccer belt loop and his baseball belt loop. Way to work hard buddy!

Ella dancing to All the Single Ladies

Anchorage Museum

As a family this last weekend we went to the Anchorage Museum. They had a really neat cultural display of some items from the bush tribes here. I didn't get any pictures of those because the room was very dark and it was very hard to capture a picture of anything in there. Some of the stuff they had on display were dolls, a parka made of seal, whale, and Polar bear intestines, and nets. There was also fishing boats and baskets. It was neat to look at the similarities and differences that the tribes had.
At the museum they also had an imaginarium which had different science things for the kids to do. We spent the majority of our time there. The kids ran around and tried all of the different things to do. This is Ella sitting on a chair and lifting herself. She had a hard time lifting herself up. Tyler and Nichole looking at the way these different balls would bounce when stacked on top of each other from smallest to biggest or biggest to smallest.Tyler looking at how radio waves work.Nichole looking at the different colors of light.Nate and Ella trying to figure out how the disc is staying up when the air is blowing out.Natalie playing with the floating ball.Natalie blowing a HUGE bubbleThe kids touching all of the sea life. There were star fish, hermit crabs, clams, and other stuff in there. They really liked this part.Tyler and the girls each taking turns trying to enclose themselves in a giant bubbleDoesn't that water look so cold?On Monday we went to go dog sledding but we arrived to late and they wouldn't let us go. When we got home Nate took the kids down to the embankment by the river by our house and tried to build a igloo but they all got cold and came inside.Nichole's legs were sooooo red where the sock ended.

This past week

This week started and ends basically the same way Pilate's baby! Lovin it! On Wednesday this week I went on a field trip with Tyler's class. We went to a play called "The spirit of Harriett Tubman." Which is a one woman show by the way. The lady who plays Harriett Tubman wrote, directed (herself mind you) and memorized the show in less then 4 weeks. She plays Harriett from the age of 6 until she dies which is way into her 90's. Tyler thought that it was okay. Which is about all I get out of him these days. He wouldn't let me take a single picture of him while he was on his field trip. But I did want to at least remember that we went on it. On Thursday night I experienced my first earth quake. It was a 4.63. It was a little after 8 so the little kids were already in bed. I was laying on the couch in the living room reading a book when it happened. I heard Tyler say "Mom, what's going on? What is that?" I told him it was just a small earthquake. Afterwards he had a hard time going back to sleep. And kept telling me how bad it worried him. Ella replied "Tyler it was just an earthquake stop freaking out." Which made me laugh a little. The house did rattle a bit and the stuff on the walls shook but nothing really happened other then that. I am especially grateful that it was only a 4.6.
This last week I also got to go on my first girls night since I moved here. As I have said before I am lucky to have moved to a place where I already had friends. I went out with Mindy and a new friend Lindsay. We went out to dinner and then over to the mall. It was just what I needed. On the way home Mindy was driving us off of base and she pointed out 2 moose that were right outside of the gate. Now I know that these "moose" animals are not fictional like I was starting to believe. Mindy told me that I was quickly becoming a real Alaskan having experienced an earthquake, having survived (or in the process of surviving) an Alaskan winter and because now I have seen moose. As Mindy drove off you could see those big animals crossing the road. Man those things are big.
On Saturday Nate and I did our usual grocery shopping trip and then Mindy brought the kids over and let them play with my kids while we made some yummy bread and visited. It was so nice to just chat and visit.
I didn't want to not post picture's so I wanted to post these ones. They are of Nichole taken in my backyard. Isn't it pretty? I just can't get enough of the scenery here. Gorgeous! It doesn't hurt that Nichole make the scenery just that much prettier!

Nerd Day

The middle school had "Nerd Day" today. Nichole did her best to dress up as a Nerd. I think that she looks pretty good as a nerd and I also think that she should dress like this more often.

Odds and Ends

I just uploaded my pictures from my big camera and I found so many things that I forgot about and wanted to share. They are old and going back as far as November but they are still fun to have around. These two pictures were taken the day Tessa got married. You can see Tyler in his natural habitat. You will recognize him by his fake smile on his face and the refusal to look away from the computer screen. If you come across someone looking like that just take a deep breath and realize they are gone and may not respond to you at all. On the positive side. It is also the time you can take advantage of by asking questions you want "Yes" answers too. They may not know what they are answering yes too but, you are getting the positive answer that you need. For example "Nate may I buy some new clothes for myself?" Nate may I order pizza for dinner?" But be cautious you could mistakenly fall into a trap by not thinking before you ask a question. For example, "Nate do I look fat in this dress?" Always, I repeat always think before you ask.Natalie cooperated nicely for pictures but, Nichole refused any. Doesn't she look beautiful? And Ella she only cooperated when she wanted to. She smiled nicely for the camera now but it took about 15 shots before I got her to do it. (I may of threatened a little too)This is the shot I got prior to the other one. Doesn't she look like she is smelling something really bad?Along the drive to Anchorage I would randomly make Nate putt over the car so I could get some beautiful pictures of the scenery. And it was beautiful.I took this picture after a snow storm but the snow was so compacted in you can't tell really how deep it is. The kids for the most part are walking on top of the snow.Ella was kind enough to make a snow angel for me. She didn't get out of the hotel we were staying in very much so she was anxious to do something fun. She did meet a little girl that was staying next door but, the little girl got really mad at Ella and wouldn't play with her any more when Ella wouldn't trade her game boy for a cheap plastic ring. It was so funny. This picture is of the lunar eclipse. My camera doesn't zoom in very well. But the thing I like most about this picture is all of the air around it. That is because we opened up our garage door and the hot air was meeting with the cold air. But it looks rather cool. This is the only picture I got of Nichole in the whole bunch that I did do. I wanted to get a picture of the kids sitting by the fireplace. With all of our Christmas decorations.
