I was so excited to move into a house with a fireplace mantel. I love being able to decorate it according to the season. Since I didn't get home until right before the 4th of July I decided that it was too late to put that mantel up and I still had my springtime one up. Something needed to change. I also didn't want to skip clear to fall because fall was too far off. My solution was going straight to back to school. It was the end of July before I put it up and it still seemed a little too early to be celebrating back to school but I figured it was my best option. Nichole and I went to several antique stores which is where I found the vintage miners lunchbox, the old books, and the red pail. I love how this turned out and can't wait to switch over to my fall/Halloween mantel.
The other fun thing I was excited to do was switch out my bedspread. I bought one that I loved about 5 years ago. But, Nate thought that it was uncomfortable like "I am sleeping with a cardboard box on top of me" as a matter of fact. I knew that I wanted a gray bedspread so I set off looking around for one. I knew that I had to buy one that I could touch and make sure that it didn't feel like a "cardboard box" I found the perfect one at Target. I had to do a trial run to make sure that Nate liked it too. Luckily he did. I have since bought 2 orange pillows to replace the 2 big yellow ones and a mustard yellow throw pillow.
I was so lucky to do a photo shoot of the most adorable newborn boy. His family is all into superheros. When I found this out several months before the shoot I went online a bought a superhero costume to put this adorable little guy in. Between the time I received the costume in the mail and the time I had to do the shoot it got replaced. The day before the shoot I ran to the fabric store and bought the stuff to make it myself. I figured I could make the replacement outfit myself. After making my own pattern and having to learn new sewing techniques I was able to pull this little outfit together. I think I did a rather fine job myself.
The aftermath of it turned out really well too!
