1/52 At Arms Length

I started a new photography course this year.  It's called 52 of you.  It is a self portraiture class that is a year long.  During that year I will be taking no less then 52 pictures of myself as a way to find confidence, express creativity and contact with myself like never before.  The class is given a new topic to get inspiration from during the course of a week.  We can post as many or as few photos during that week onto a group board on flickr.  The only rules are that they need to be new photos and the photos have to have me in them. At the end of the week we will get a video or a note from the class leaders to encourage and congratulate us.  We are also welcome to comment on any ones photo as well as have ours commented on.
The first weeks inspiration was At Arms Length.  We are to use only the as far as our arms to take this photo.  There can not be any self timers involved.

It's 25 degrees here in Anchorage. I have my hat, gloves but no coat. It's 25 degrees! All I need is my sweater.

waiting for date night to start!

Once a night for 30 mins it's just my daughter and I as we read together. Yay for Harry Potter!

Yay for snow!

It's snowing again!

Nothing like a mug of hot chocolate on a winter morning.

At the end of the week the two lovely ladies that put this together left us with this quote
"The only joy in the world is to begin.  It is good to be alive because living is beginning, always, every moment".

welcoming in 2013

New Year's Eve is always fun at my house.  Or at least I try to make it fun.  Natalie and Nichole bailed on us and went to their friends house to spend the night (which I was happy about.  I like them to make memories of their own with their friends as well as with their family).  And Nate had to work until 11.  So the fun didn't really start until he got home.  Well, Tyler, Ella, and I did spend about 2 hours before he got home playing card games.
Nate's family tradition was having seafood on New Years Eve so we thought that it would be fun to do it this year.  I bought crab and shrimp enough for the 6 of us.  Since there was only 4 we only cooked the crab.  It ended up better that way.  By the time we got through the crab we were all stuffed.
At 12 we had sparkling cider and milano cookies to celebrate with.  I bought a whole bunch of the confetti guns to bang in the new years with and the kids banged pots and pans.
The best part for me was getting to kiss my honey at midnight.  What a great way to start the new year.
Earlier in the day I had the kids write done some of their goals for 2013.  I will post on here when I get them all scanned.  I wonder how much will be followed through with.

It's Mustache Time

I know, I know I put a lot of Mustache things up on my blog lately.  But lets face it Mustache's are just all sorts of fun.  It is especially fun if you have another person (Sister Rivera) that likes mustache's just as much as you do.  I got these Christmas mustache temporary tattoo's the other day and wanted so badly wanted to put them on with these 2 girls.  It was really important that I do them right away because Sister Rivera was leaving the next day.
And of course if you put mustaches on your body you have to do an impromptu  photo shoot!  This is what you get when you set me loose with Mustache's.  In addition to these pictures I took probably 30 more.  These were just the ones I couldn't resist putting up on my blog.
