This week started and ends basically the same way Pilate's baby! Lovin it! On Wednesday this week I went on a field trip with Tyler's class. We went to a play called "The spirit of Harriett Tubman." Which is a one woman show by the way. The lady who plays Harriett Tubman wrote, directed (herself mind you) and memorized the show in less then 4 weeks. She plays Harriett from the age of 6 until she dies which is way into her 90's. Tyler thought that it was okay. Which is about all I get out of him these days. He wouldn't let me take a single picture of him while he was on his field trip. But I did want to at least remember that we went on it. On Thursday night I experienced my first earth quake. It was a 4.63. It was a little after 8 so the little kids were already in bed. I was laying on the couch in the living room reading a book when it happened. I heard Tyler say "Mom, what's going on? What is that?" I told him it was just a small earthquake. Afterwards he had a hard time going back to sleep. And kept telling me how bad it worried him. Ella replied "Tyler it was just an earthquake stop freaking out." Which made me laugh a little. The house did rattle a bit and the stuff on the walls shook but nothing really happened other then that. I am especially grateful that it was only a 4.6.
This last week I also got to go on my first girls night since I moved here. As I have said before I am lucky to have moved to a place where I already had friends. I went out with Mindy and a new friend Lindsay. We went out to dinner and then over to the mall. It was just what I needed. On the way home Mindy was driving us off of base and she pointed out 2 moose that were right outside of the gate. Now I know that these "moose" animals are not fictional like I was starting to believe. Mindy told me that I was quickly becoming a real Alaskan having experienced an earthquake, having survived (or in the process of surviving) an Alaskan winter and because now I have seen moose. As Mindy drove off you could see those big animals crossing the road. Man those things are big.
On Saturday Nate and I did our usual grocery shopping trip and then Mindy brought the kids over and let them play with my kids while we made some yummy bread and visited. It was so nice to just chat and visit.
I didn't want to not post picture's so I wanted to post these ones. They are of Nichole taken in my backyard. Isn't it pretty? I just can't get enough of the scenery here. Gorgeous! It doesn't hurt that Nichole make the scenery just that much prettier!
