School haircuts and new glasses

I took the girls to JoHanna to get their hair cut for school today. JoHanna came and picked Nichole, Ella, and Me and took us to the salon. I brought with me a pillow to prop my leg on. I had tons of fun hanging out with JoHanna while she did the girls hair.Ella's hair was done first. She just got her normal A line done. She looks so much cuter with shot hair. It makes it look like she has a ton of it.Nichole helped Jomama out while she put shimmers in Ella's hair. When she was done this is what she looked like. Sooo adorable. You can see on the right side of her hair and below you can see the pink one she got in. After Ella was done Nate came dropped off Natalie and took Ella home with him. He also brought with him a camping chair. It made things a lot more comfy for me being able to prop my leg up higher. Nichole's before picture. Her after pictures. You can see the rainbow shimmers in her hair. I told all of the girls that I would pay for 2 shimmers each and the big girls could pay for 4 more each themselves if they wanted more. Which of course they did. Nichole got 4 rainbow and 2 silver ones in her hair.Nichole loved her haircut so much she wouldn't stop playing with it and looking at herself in the mirror.Natalie helping Jo out while she was putting in the shimmers.Nichole in her new glasses. She is also all ready to go to her first Cross Country practice today.Natalie was the last one to go. She is excited to get shorter bans.Nichole got to help again with the shimmer.Natalie's after picture. Her hair is a little below the shoulder's. It looks really nice on her. I also had JoHanna show the girls how to style their hair. I wanted to jump up and help but I couldn'tNatalie got 3 blue and 3 purple shimmer in her hair. She has lots of layer's in the back (I promise her shirt isn't inside out the tag is just poking out.)Both of the big girls aren't they so grown up?

The kids trip to Utah

While my mom was down here helping me I stole her camera and downloaded her pictures off of it onto my computer. It had a whole bunch of pictures from when my parents had the kids over to their house for a summer vacation. I wanted to show the pictures. There are a ton of them. The first few were taken at Cabela's where they got to try to shoot the stuffed animals. They went to a petting zoo in Lehi.and then went on a picnic afterwards. The big girls did scrapbooking with GrandmaThey also went up to the farmer's market which is one of my favorite things to do during summer in Utah. They went to Jumping Jacks with their cousins Caleb and Ryan They all had a ton of fun.

Tyler got his wolf badge.

Tyler worked very hard for a year to get his Wolf badge for cub scouts. He has loved doing all of the requirements and has learned so much from all of his work. He got to do some fun things in scouts too like day camp, and participate in the pine wood derby. Buck we are so proud of you. I wish I could of been there to see you get your award but Grandma got to go.

Thank You!!!!

This is my wonderful mom. She is so amazing. When she found out I broke my leg and had to have surgery she made plans to come and help out. She woke up bright and early (4:30 in the morning) to make it to my house before I got home from surgery. She was there for me during my barely aware state. You know that take your medicine talk for 20 minutes and fall asleep for 2 hours (and repeat) state. She did all of my laundry, cooked dinner two times over (actual dinner and then some for my freezer). She listen to me cry, got me drinks, helped me around the house, and washed my hair. Thank you so much mom!!! I love you and don't know what I would do without you. You are amazing and I never felt so loved.

And a special thanks to my Dad who lived without my mom for 7 days. Thanks for letting me steal her from you.

Healing

The day that I feel Natalie got her stitches out. Doesn't her arm look so much better? It looks better every day. She just has a gnarly scar now. This picture was taken the day of my surgery after I had been home for about 2 hours. I still have that nasty benodine all over my leg.Monday and Tuesday I left the house. It is such a process for me. First I hobble to the stairs and sit down on a chair. Then from the chair I scoot myself onto the floor and down the first level of stairsI then stand up and hop down the last set of stairs.

Then I go out the garage door and I am on my way. Although I can't go out very long it felt good to get out.

Feeling Better

Just a quick update (okay maybe not so quick) to let everyone know that I am feeling a ton better today. I actually got out of the house and wasn't in too much pain. On Monday I went to the orthopedic surgeon where I sat in the waiting room and the exam room for over 3 hours to have him tell me that my leg was swollen. Hello sitting up for over 4 hours will do that to you. I got to have 3 new xrays to find out how bad of shape my foot was in. The doctor told me that I needed to have surgery as soon as he could fit me in if... my swelling went down. I then got my surgery scheduled for Wednesday morning. I have to say to and from Boise was the most miserable ride that I have ever been on in a long time. The whole way there I felt like I was going to puke and the whole way back I wanted to cry because of how my leg was positioned in the car.

I was so worried about my leg not going down that I spent the next day and a half in bed with my leg up as high as I could. Ugh miserable. Wednesday morning I got up bright and early and headed up to Boise to get checked into the hospital and have my surgery. They took me back to give me a nerve block on the bottom of my leg. They unwrapped my ace wrap and started to remove my splint but at this point I am so nervous and worried that It was going to hurt to roll from my back to my belly that I was in tears. But it all worked out okay. They just kept my splint on until I rolled over. They took me back to the OR and apparently I complained about the tourniquet although I do not remember that at all so they had to put me all the way out. But because of that they had to inti bate me. The first I said when I woke up was that my throat hurt. The nurses and doctors were all very nice and helpful. I only had to stay in the hospital for about a hour after my surgery.

While I was in surgery Nate ran to Old Navy to get some shorts and then picked up some breakfast. By the time he got back to the waiting room the nurse came to tell him that I had just barely went in for surgery. They estimated that it was going to take an hour and a half but I never asked how long it actually took. The Doctor said that when he got in to operate my leg wasn't as bad off as he thought it was. He thought that he was going to have to put a screw in my ligament (at some point that would of had to come out) but I only ended up getting one suture put in.

Wednesday morning my wonderful mom left Utah to come and help me here for a week. What a blessing she is to have here. I felt really good after surgery for about 8 hours and when my nerve block completely wore off it was so nice to have someone here to help me do everything. It was such a blessing to have her come. The first 2 and a half days I was completely out of it. I was in so much pain I would take a pill talk to my mom for about 20 minutes and then fall asleep for 2 hours over and over and over again. She helped clean and cook. She helped take care of the kids and was really good helping me with everything I asked of her. I am so lucky to have such an amazing mom. I LOVE YOU.

I also had a ton of help from the ward. I had meals come to the house for a week. It was so nice to have all the help from them. I felt a lot of love and support from my ward.

I have been feeling better and better each day. But today I actually made it out of the house for about 45 minutes before I thought that my leg might actually fall off. I went to pick out a movie and to the bookstore. My husband and kids have been more then helpful today. My honey is such a kind and thoughtful man. I now know how my honey is going to act when I am 90 years old and we have to take care of each other. I love you babe! You are wonderful and the man of my dreams.

First Natalie and now its my turn

Friday night Nate and the kids were going to have a sleepover on the trampoline so I took my camera and headed outside to get some pictures of them so that I would have something to blog about. I got to the 3 step from the bottom and I turned my right ankle. I tried to catch myself and I think I can't remember exactly how it happened but I think that I stepped right off the side of the stairs (it doesn't have a guard rail the last 3 steps) onto the cement. I looked at my foot that was completely turned the wrong way and yelled at Nate I broke my leg, I broke my leg. He came running over and I said as calm as can be. I think I broke my leg babe. He called the ambulance and I started to have the kids do things like put up the dog and stuff like that. Then I turned to Nate and said. I think that I am in shock. My good friend Heather came over to help with the kids while I was at the hospital. I felt really bad too because she had to hold the flashlight while the EMT's worked on my leg. I moaned and cried out but I didn't swear which I must admit is not a good habit. The ambulance came and took me to the hospital here in Mtn. Home. I had never been in an ambulance before so I did not know what to expect. There in the driveway they were shooting me full of medicine trying to get my pain to a minimum before they would even leave my house. I remember thinking So this is what it's like being in an ambulance. It was very surreal to me and it felt very out of body to me. On the way to the hospital the driver drove very slow and was thoughtful enough to let me know when the bumps were coming up. The EMT kept asking me all of these questions like "I'm not very good with math how old are you again?" I wanted to say to him "I know what your doing." But I didn't. There I got xrays. I thought that the nurses were going to call the police or something because when I told them that I fell down the stairs they all gave Nate a dirty look. And when he left the room they asked if it was because I was in pain that I was crying. When the doctor looked at them he decided that he didn't feel comfortable setting my leg because not only were my Fibula, Tibia, and ankle broken but I had also dislocated my ankle too. They put me in an ambulance and took me to the hospital in Boise. Before I left the hospital in Mtn. Home I asked Nate to give me a priesthood blessing. He frantically made calls to see who he could get to come to the hospital and help out. Brandon Johns was on his way when they tried to move my into the ambulance. Nate told them why we wanted to wait for a minute and the nurse didn't want us to but the EMT told us that of course they had time because he knew how important it was for me. On the way to Boise I got very, very sick and they had to give me medicine for the nausea. The EMT was very nice to me the whole time I was with him. He could tell when I was in pain too he said that it was all over my face. I got to the hospital in Boise and right away they gave me some more pain meds and and IV medicine for the nausea. Th pain meds did not last very long and I sat in the room crying for about 45 minutes when Nate went out to tell someone that I needed more medicine. The nurse said that she would tell my nurse but I still hadn't received anything 15 minutes later so he went out there to tell them again and was much more demanding about it. They had to put off setting my leg several times because of more important cases that were coming in. I had to wait about 5 hours for them to set my foot. But thankfully they knocked me completely out to do it. My leg was not able to be set all of the way to the right place so I have to go and see a specialist and I might have to have surgery on it. I got home around 5:30 in the morning and tried to go right to bed but the pain was so bad that I couldn't sleep. Finally I was able to get it under control enough to rest for a bit. I found out later that the kids who were here with me when it happened (Tyler, Ella, and Natalie) had gone into the house and cried because they were all so concerned about me. the aftermath in a splint
