Feeling Better

Just a quick update (okay maybe not so quick) to let everyone know that I am feeling a ton better today. I actually got out of the house and wasn't in too much pain. On Monday I went to the orthopedic surgeon where I sat in the waiting room and the exam room for over 3 hours to have him tell me that my leg was swollen. Hello sitting up for over 4 hours will do that to you. I got to have 3 new xrays to find out how bad of shape my foot was in. The doctor told me that I needed to have surgery as soon as he could fit me in if... my swelling went down. I then got my surgery scheduled for Wednesday morning. I have to say to and from Boise was the most miserable ride that I have ever been on in a long time. The whole way there I felt like I was going to puke and the whole way back I wanted to cry because of how my leg was positioned in the car.

I was so worried about my leg not going down that I spent the next day and a half in bed with my leg up as high as I could. Ugh miserable. Wednesday morning I got up bright and early and headed up to Boise to get checked into the hospital and have my surgery. They took me back to give me a nerve block on the bottom of my leg. They unwrapped my ace wrap and started to remove my splint but at this point I am so nervous and worried that It was going to hurt to roll from my back to my belly that I was in tears. But it all worked out okay. They just kept my splint on until I rolled over. They took me back to the OR and apparently I complained about the tourniquet although I do not remember that at all so they had to put me all the way out. But because of that they had to inti bate me. The first I said when I woke up was that my throat hurt. The nurses and doctors were all very nice and helpful. I only had to stay in the hospital for about a hour after my surgery.

While I was in surgery Nate ran to Old Navy to get some shorts and then picked up some breakfast. By the time he got back to the waiting room the nurse came to tell him that I had just barely went in for surgery. They estimated that it was going to take an hour and a half but I never asked how long it actually took. The Doctor said that when he got in to operate my leg wasn't as bad off as he thought it was. He thought that he was going to have to put a screw in my ligament (at some point that would of had to come out) but I only ended up getting one suture put in.

Wednesday morning my wonderful mom left Utah to come and help me here for a week. What a blessing she is to have here. I felt really good after surgery for about 8 hours and when my nerve block completely wore off it was so nice to have someone here to help me do everything. It was such a blessing to have her come. The first 2 and a half days I was completely out of it. I was in so much pain I would take a pill talk to my mom for about 20 minutes and then fall asleep for 2 hours over and over and over again. She helped clean and cook. She helped take care of the kids and was really good helping me with everything I asked of her. I am so lucky to have such an amazing mom. I LOVE YOU.

I also had a ton of help from the ward. I had meals come to the house for a week. It was so nice to have all the help from them. I felt a lot of love and support from my ward.

I have been feeling better and better each day. But today I actually made it out of the house for about 45 minutes before I thought that my leg might actually fall off. I went to pick out a movie and to the bookstore. My husband and kids have been more then helpful today. My honey is such a kind and thoughtful man. I now know how my honey is going to act when I am 90 years old and we have to take care of each other. I love you babe! You are wonderful and the man of my dreams.
