Nichole's birthday present for Natalie.

Nichole decided for Natalie's birthday this year she was going to get her the most amazing gift.  She was going to recruit people to participate with her in a flash mob during Natalie's homecoming football game. 

Six people total participated on that rainy day.  They got up and danced their hearts out to C&C Music Factory's song Gonna Make You Sweat.  It was so awesome.  At the end a birthday banner was unfurled that said Happy Birthday #47. 

The mission was accomplished.  Natalie was sufficiently embarrassed and equally pleased with the flash mob.  She said the worst part was that she needed to pee and because her sister did that she couldn't go to the bathroom.  The C1 team also prepared a fun dance to do during half time and was unable to do it because of the flash mob! 

I have now planted the seed of keeping going with the whole embarrassing each other on their birthday thing.  With any luck they will try to one up each other every year.  That would be so awesome!!!

 It rained the entire game!  One small umbrella was provided for the girls to climb under.  They decided to pretend that they were gnomes and this was their mushroom.  Girls are silly!

One of the girls on the team made these cute hair thing for the girls to wear during their game.  She has now worn it to every game. 

Natalie's team remains undefeated to this day.  Her game last night she intercepted the ball and ran it in for a touchdown!  She said it was her best and worst game ever.  Her best because of that play and her worst because her parents weren't there to see it.  Talk about feeling guilty.  But I believe that if I was there then she wouldn't of caught the ball!

I took the girls out for their birthday photo shoot. We went to Goose lake for the shoot. It is such a pretty area. With a touch of old rusty stuff that I love and a lot of nature.

 

 

 

 

 

Alaska Fair

I went to my fair with my friends Marissa, Erin, and Dene.  It was not the best day to go to the fair it was a little rainy and a little windy.  We pulled up right before the fair opened and when I got out of the car and put my jacket on Marissa told me that everyone was going to laugh at me not because I was wearing one jacket but because I was wearing two.  But in my defense one was for warmth and the other was to keep my dry.  Our main goal of the fair was to eat the wonderful fair food.  All the deep fried crap we could muster.  We started on our gorge ourselves until we pop journey with deep fried peaches.  They were heavenly.  They were surrounding a bowl of ice cream with whipped cream and a mint sprig on top.  With a light dusting of cinnamon.  It was like a party in my mouth.  All the goodness of peaches and cream mixed with the goodness of deep frying it.  mmmm pure heaven to my taste buds.

 My next stop down food lane was the deep fried (catching onto the theme here) cheese curds.  In my opinion there is not many thing better then deep fried cheese.  The saltiness mixed with the crunchy batter is enough to leave you wanting more.

 Marissa got this gem of a food item.  Zucchini and squash covered in marinara sauce and cheese.  Not my favorite or what I pictured fair food to be at all.

 These little balls of goodness are Korean Cookies.  They came in 4 different flavors.  I only tried the chocolate ones.  They are a mix between a donut and a muffin in my opinion.  They are quite tasty.

After we tried the donuts we got an Irish Pasty.  Which was one of the worst things that I have ever eaten in my life.  Erin bought a chicken one.  A pasty is like a meat pie with potatoes in it.  The grease they fried it in tasted old and the insides left much to be desired and tasted like fish.  I could not even swallow mine.  It was horrible.  It didn't even warrant a picture although now I wish I would of gotten one just to show you what not to eat.

 Our last food item on the make Jessica sick train was onion rings.  This plate of onion rings has only about half on it that it came with.  The plate was piled so high.  But they were tasty.  The only thing that I didn't really enjoy about it was the grease flavor that lingered in my mouth for hours afterwards. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck.  But while I was eating it I couldn't tell.

That my friends in a nut shell is the fair food exploration that I went on.  Was it tasty?Yes!  Am I looking forward to next year? Most definitely!

Girls night

     I hosted a girls night at my house this week.  It took quite a bit of coordinating but I think I pulled it off quite nicely.  We started the night with 3 different groups of girls going in for pedicures at one of the salons here on base.  Yes I got a pedicure.  Then everyone met at my house to have treats, trade beauty favorites, and chit chat. 
     Each girl brought 5 of their favorite beauty item to swap with 5 other people.  They did not get to choose what or who they swapped with.  I made a guessing game to play.  I gave each girl 5 different facts.  One for each of the five girls that they would get a beauty supply from.  It was a fun way to get to know each other and trade items.  I made my hot oil treatment which is melted coconut oil with some peppermint essential oils mixed in.  In return I got 2 chapsticks, face moisturizer, body spray, 2 lip glosses and a hand scrub. 
     The ladies hung around and ate food until the wee hours of the night.  But really it was until about 10 o'clock.  Everyone brought a snack to share so there was plenty of food to go around.  I had a great time and can not wait until with any luck there is another girls night!

I decided that I wanted to make a new dress for Ella.  This is something that I have never done before.  I didn't have a paper pattern to go off of.  All I had was instructions that I got from the Internet.  Because I wasn't sure how much fabric that I would need I only bought I yard.  Well guess what?  It wasn't enough and I needed to get more.  That was a problem because I got the material when I was in Utah and did not have access to more so I had to change it around a little bit to make it work for me. This ended up being my end result.  I love it and so does Ella!
