How did Nate and I choose the kids names.

Choosing names as with any couple we did not take lightly. Nor did we agree on many. Just 3 in fact. With the twins we had already decided that we did not want to name them names that were too similar like Sara and Tara but we did want to name them both with the same first letter. There were not many other names that we even considered before we found these too. First Natalie- Her name was the easiest for me because I loved that name. I had loved that name for a very long time. But it was more difficult for us to find a name that I liked that started with a N. Nate had suggested Nichole before but I blew it off because I hated I mean HATED the name Nicki (I knew too many crazy girls named Nicki and you know how you kind of associate names with people that is all I could think of were all of these crazy Nicki's) but, we couldn't find any other that we liked better. I agreed that we could name her Nichole if we could call her Choley (which I loved) and that we would ask people who wanted to call her Nicki to please not and if they wanted to shorten her name please call her Choley. And that is how we got both of their first names.
With middle names we decided that we would name them after family members. Natalie's middle name is Sue which is also my middle name and my mom's name is Susan. So Natalie is named after the both of us. Nichole's middle name is Pamela which is Nate's mom's name. So she is named after her. Funny story when Nichole was little she was not happy that she did not have the middle name Sue like Natalie and I (she was maybe 2 or 3). She would yell at us in her 3 year old brogue "My name is no Nichole Pam'la Musil it is Nichole Sue Musil." Apparently when she was younger she used to think that Pamela was a boy's name.
Tyler's full name is Tyler Nathan. I can up with many boy's names that I liked but Nate did not like any of them. I even suggested Tyler several times to him because it was in my top 3. (Carson and Tanner were also in my top choices) One day as we were driving back to Arizona from a trip to Utah we stopped by Nate's grandparents house to say good-bye when Nate suggested Tyler as a first name. I told him that I had said I liked it many times and he told me he had never heard me say it. Anyway I let it be because who is really going to argue when you have a name that you both can agree on. Nathan is pretty obvious it is after Nate. I wanted to do David which would of been after both Nate (which is his middle name) and his dad (which is his first name) but Nate was pretty stubborn about it being Nathan and I was completely content with that.
Ella's full name is Ella Kimberly. Nate and I could not agree on a name for her. We went back and forth and anything that he suggested I turned down and vice versa. Then came our compromise. Nate would get a new lap top and I would get to name the baby. Totally worth the money to me. Ella was many names before she was Ella. Including but not limited to Mia, Gabby, Lydia, and Olivia. Until I finally settled on Ella. ( If she was a he, He would of been named Tate Paul (after Nate's grandpa) Grand (after the 1,000 dollars it took to buy the laptop) Musil. I had many people say they are glad he wasn't a boy. Which makes me sad because I loved that name.) Her middle name, Kimberly is actually my Dad's middle name. It is also kinda the name he goes by ( He goes by Kim. Plus his full name is Golden Kimberly so which one would you go by) So she is named after a he. My dad teases her so much that finally I told her to tell him that she has figured out the reason why he teases her so much is because she is named after him and he doesn't want the other kids to feel bad so to make up for it he teases her. The explanation works for her but in all truthfulness he just teases everyone so much. Side note- my best friend's little girl's name is Bella and for the first several weeks I called Ella Bella on accident. Also it took me many, many weeks to put together that Bella and Ella were practically the same name. Man I am a dork.
So there you have it that is how my kids got their names.

I had no idea that Carson was one of your top boy names with Tyler. Love the idea of putting this on your blog.
