Nate was a walking zombie the day that he got home from Iraq. After traveling many, many hours (it took him 8 days to get here from start to finish and he also got to fly in first class the whole way) With the time change and the jet lag he was like the dead. He tried to stay awake as long as he could but alias sleep deprivation prevailed and he crashed before the kids even went to bed. But the next day he was up bright and early (around 5 a.m.) and ready to have a fun family day. We decided that we were going to go bowling. That didn't turn out as planned. Neither one of the bowling alleys were open (it was Labor day). So we went and picked up some lunch and headed to the park for a picnic instead.
Nate and I at the park.
The kids ran around and played with each other (which is a rare thing at our house)

Tyler also made some goofy faces.

Tyler was teasing Ella so I told her to just kiss him. He was okay with it until Nate pulled out the camera in which he promptly took off running.
This naughty squirrel was throwing things at the kids from the tree tops. The kids thought that it was so funny that the squirrel would do that.
Tyler found the moth and carried it on a stick for a while.

Then we jumped back in the car. I ran into Albertson's and when I came back this is what I found on my camera.

Then we went exploring. We found these fun rocks on the top of a hill so we drove as far as we could to it and then got out and hiked to the top of them.

Natalie and Nichole don't very frequently show off their flying skills but they captured it on film this time.
