We got back from Seward and Homer Saturday around noon. The Bear Paw Festival happened to be going on at the same time here in Eagle River. I have posted about Bear Paw a few other times. It is always a fun time in Eagle River. I asked my parents if they wanted to go to Bear Paw at all and they decided that they did. Tyler, and Ella went with us. Saturday and Sunday are the busiest days to go to bear paw but they were also the only times that we were in town for it. We walked around the booths that they had there then settled in and got some food. I gave each of the kids some money to get something. Tyler got Cotton Candy and Ella got a Funnel cake. We didn't stick around too long.
The following day we did some running around. My dad decided he was going to fix somethings in around the house and we were planning on going hiking again. My mom, dad, Tyler and I went to downtown Anchorage to eat at Snow City Cafe and then headed over to home depot to pick up some items for the house.
As we were leaving the parking lot my mom tripped on a curb and ended up on the ground holding her foot. We were all pretty convinced that she had broke it but we couldn't talk her into going to the hospital to see. We took her back to my house and helped her get comfortable on the couch. I'm sure it was nearly and impossible thing to do. I gave her my boot to walk around in and that did help a little.
The next morning my mom wasn't feeling any better but she still wouldn't go to the hospital. Eventually I had to take my parents to the airport. Which I have to admit I cried like a baby when I dropped them off. It was very hard to say good bye. With the help of some airport workers my mom made it through security and back to the gate okay but had to wait hours to board and then a while to take off on the plane. I can't imagine how miserable that flight had been for my mom without being able to elevate it for the flight.
My mom did end up going into the doctor the following day and she did break her foot in THREE different places.
I am so grateful for the opportunity that I had to have my parents come up to Alaska and see if during the summer time. I feel so blessed to be raised by amazing, supportive parents. They are always there for me. I miss being around them. I can't wait to move closer to them or in the very least not have a country between us. I love you Dad and Mom! I miss you everyday!
