Yesterday the kids got to wake up bright and early to get ready for school again. I love, love the summer months when I get the kids home with me (although I didn't get to do all the things with them this year). And this time every year is a little hard for me to see my kids get older and have them gone most of the day. But they all love it. This year Nate got to do all of my traditions with the kids. He started them with a big meal of pancakes and eggs.
Tyler school starts 30 minutes after the girls school does. So Nate took the big girls to school and then came home for 15 minutes and took Tyler to school. It was very hard for me to leave all of this up to Nate because I love taking the kids to school but there was no way that I was going to be able to hobble across the school to take Tyler to class.
He said that he was going to be sporty for the first day of school.
His 3rd grade teacher is Mrs. Bowlden. He has 3 of his friends in class with him this year. He is super excited about that. When asked what he learned he said "Not to talk while the teacher is talking." What a great thing to learn. Doesn't he look so thrilled to be having his picture taken.
Natalie is going into the 6th grade this year. That means a full 7 class periods this year. She is taking band and is going to play the saxophone this year. She is also going to be an office aide next semester.

Nichole of course is going into 6th grade this year too. She is hoping for a better school year this year. She signed up to be in Choir. She is very excited for that. She also gets to take team building this semester.

My baby is in kindergarten this year. As hard as I have tried I can't talk her into not going. She refuses to skip school and stay home with me. She did not think that it was fair that she had to wait until 12:30 to go to school. Her teacher seems very nice and I cross my fingers that she will be patient with Ella.

She looks very unhappy in this picture because she did not want Nate and I to go with her to her first day of school. She was okay with us dropping her off but, she did not want us to stay with her the whole time. The way they do it here is, for the first day of kindergarten the kids go for 1 hour with their parents. If their parents can't go then they don't get to go until the following day. She spent a lot of time pouting about us going.
She enjoyed her class and she got to have circle time which she was very excited about.
Today she got to ride the bus to school. And once again she thought it was unfair that she had to wait until 11:40 for the bus to pick her up for school. She is excited to go and learn new things. And she can't wait to see what kindergarten brings to her. I must admit I shed a tear or two when she got on the bus this morning.
