The second day of camp started out late. The leaders and I were up so late it was hard for us to get out of bed. The day was supposed to start at 7:30 in the morning and ended up starting at 8. One of the young women taught some Zumba for exercises while some of the other girls cooked food. This morning we had omelets cooked inside Ziploc baggies. They were so fun to do and super easy. What you do is put two bags inside a freezer baggie and add any kind of ingredient that you like inside your omelets. In our case we had mushrooms, green peppers, onions, and cheese. You mix all those together inside the baggie and pop it into a pot of boiling water and let them boil for about 10 minutes. Very tasty when you get them out. We also had banana's with our breakfast. After breakfast we did some camp certification. Then the girls had some time to prep for their skits. Each Lady In Waiting (cabin mom) gave their cabin a bag of props for them to use for their skit. When the girls were done prepping for skits we prepared for lunch and the 2nd years took theirs with them on their "hike" to the swimming pool while the 3rd years and up hung out at camp eating, and enjoying some free time. When the pool was open we headed to the pool to swim. After swimming we came back to camp and did a craft. We made these jars. I bought some spray paint that when you spray on glass it makes it look frosted. I also got them candles to put inside of them so that the words that they wrote on the jar would light up. While the jars were drying up we had a devotional given by the first counselor in the YW. She talked about letting their light shine. It was perfect. ![]()
The girls then enjoyed some free time until dinner. Some of them went to the docks to hang out. While other hung our around the camp fire and in their cabins. For dinner that night we had dutch oven pizza's (delicious) and veggies. For dessert Nate made several different kinds of cobbler. Below is April she is trying to make the pizza cook faster by thinking really hard.
April's husband is a state trooper and he came and taught the girls some self defense moves that involve pressure points. The YW president's son came in to help as the "bad guy" It was great. Joe did amazing (the trooper) and Lee (the bad guy) was hilarious. He squeaked and screamed like a girl. Joe had us laughing as he was taking Lee down. I wish I could post the picture's on here but we were asked not to post the pictures because it could be misconstrued since Joe is in his uniform and all. He then was helping the girls understand that they have every right to fight back against someone trying to attack them. That they should. Afterwards April spoke to the girls on missionary work. I am sure she did an amazing job also I had to leave to go and pick up medicine for one of the girls so I unfortunately did not get to hear her speak about it.
We were supposed to do skits that night but, we were running way behind and had not cleaned up dinner yet so we postponed the skits to the next night.
