24th of July (it's a Utah thing) with a ton of pictures. There are 48, yep 48 pictures!

The 24th of July is a big celebration day in Utah. It is the day that Utah became a state. All over the state there are tons of celebrations. I have been to many of them, but my favorite will always be the little one in my home town. The day starts off with a fun run. All of my kids participated in it this year. I made these awesome shirts for the kids to wear. They were a lot cuter then the ones that they could of gotten from the race sponsors. We used bleach and bleached around the words Hi for the frontand bye for the back. The kids thought that they were being so funny with their shirts on.The 2 little kids ran the 1 mile. Natalie went with Ella to run. It was her warm up. This is the 3rd time the little kids have ran the 1 mile. Ella did her first one at 3 years old. When Tyler came around the last corner he looked all defeated (I wish I could of gotten a picture) his head was down and his shoulders were slumped. But, when he heard us cheer him on he picked up speed and started running again. And did a really good job at the finish line.We didn't have to wait long for Ella to show up. She was so excited for the run she wanted to run everywhere before she started and continued running well after the race was over. She came less then a minute after Tyler. The kids got participate ribbons, water and Popsicles for running the race. This was taken before the second race was about to start. Natalie and Nichole both signed up for the 5k. This is the second 5k they have ran this summer and this is Nichole's 3rd time she has ran this particular one and Natalie's 2nd time. The runners at the starting line. You can't see it very well in this picture but, this is my dad and Nichole.Nichole shaved 2 minutes off her time and my dad shaved 4 minutes off of his. Good Job guys!Once again you cant see this very well but, this is Natalie and Joy.Both of these guys shaved 2 minutes off of their time too! Woohoo great job!The girls after the race.My dad, sis, and the girls after the race. It was super bright outside.and of course Ella needed to get a picture with her Joy.After the race was over we went back to my parents house for about 20 mins and then went over to the parade. This year the parade was longer then it has ever been. But, it was still not too long. It was only 45 minutes and the kids got candy. What more can you ask for. I love this parade because it is not to long. By the time you are bored with all of the floats it is over. After the parade the kids walked over to the carnival that they have in the park. Now it is not a typical carnival. There is no rides. It is full of games mostly. This year they had a lot of water games they could do like a big water slide and a big slip and slide. The kids hung out there for 2 hours and came home. After the carnival we had The Banks Family Olympics. The first thing we did was the water balloon sling shot. Only the sling shot didn't work so the kids just threw their water balloons to see who could throw the farthest. Then we partnered up to do the water balloon toss. I joined in this one because we had an odd number of people. After the toss we did the three legged race. Joy was Ella's partner and she found it much easier to just lift Ella up and go... Only that didn't count. Then we did the wheelbarrow. They had to go to one line switch positions and then go back. Only Joy and Ella didn't switch. That would of been funny to see though. And Ryan couldn't quite make it over the line so they carried him over. No man left behind. Then we did a race where they couldn't drop the apple. They would put the apple in between them and run to the end of the line. But they couldn't use their hands at all either.Ella didn't like that rule so she used her hands anyway. Then we did the limbo. For much of the limbo Ella could just walk under the stick. After the limbo we did the high jump. Although unlike this picture they didn't all jump at once. The last thing that we did was see who could get the most marshmallows into their mouths. It was funny, sticky, and very gross all at the same time.Ella and Ryan each got 3 into their mouths.Natalie and Tyler each got 5And Nichole almost got 7 into her mouth.Afterwards we handout out awards.Natalie won for the most wet thrower because of the balloon toss.Tyler won for the best head dive. Because he did a head dive over the stick during the jumping competition.Ella got the best tie breaker because she broker her knot during the 3 legged race.Ryan got the best swing because of the swing that got planted onto Nicholes face during the group jump. The one and only group jump might I add.And Nichole won for the best Chunky Monkey for getting the most marshmallows into her mouth.

All and All I think it was a huge success. The kids had fun. The adults got to laugh. We will definately be doing this again another time. Hopefully Pete and all of his kids will get to come and do it next time!
